Financial Model
The Financial model lets you build a financial model for the engagement where every number is linked back to its source — so the model stays inspectable and defensible rather than a black box of hard-coded cells. It lives in the engagement's Analysis workspace.
Who can access
Members of the engagement team, on the Enterprise plan — Financial model is the Enterprise-only tool in the plan-gated Analysis workspace. It's hidden on the Starter, Team, and Professional plans.
The financial model needs connected data. If the engagement has no data source yet, the Analysis section prompts you to connect a database to get started — do that first in Data & sources.
How it works
Rather than typing numbers into a spreadsheet, you build the model over the engagement's connected data so each figure carries a link back to where it came from. That lineage is what makes the model defensible: any stakeholder can click a number and see the source behind it.
Step by step
- Open Analysis → Financial model in the engagement.
- Connect a data source if you haven't — the section prompts you when there's no data yet.
- Build the model over the engagement's data.
- Check the lineage on the numbers that matter, then carry the results into Deliver.
Best practices
- Link, don't hard-code. A number sourced from real data is defensible; a typed-in number isn't.
- Ground it in good data. Connect and enrich sources first — the model is only as reliable as the data underneath it.
