Diagnose

Diagnose is the first phase of the engagement lifecycle. Here you assess the client against one or more frameworks, ground the assessment in real evidence, and surface the gaps that the rest of the engagement will address.

Who can access

Members of the engagement team.

How it works

Diagnose is organized as a five-section checklist that walks you from picking a framework to finalized findings.

SectionWhat you do
1. FrameworksPick one or more frameworks to assess against
2. Evidence coverageConfirm how many sources will feed the run (documents, connected data, interviews)
3. AI interviewsOptionally collect conversational evidence from stakeholders
4. Run assessmentStart a versioned run; watch it stream through its stages
5. FindingsReview answers + confidence, accept them, and send gaps to Plan

When you run an assessment, it executes on Celeredge's assessment engine and streams its progress live through these stages:

Runs are versioned — re-run as your evidence improves and compare versions.

Step by step

  1. Pick a framework. In section 1, select one or more frameworks made available to your firm for the engagement's practices.
  2. Check evidence coverage. Section 2 shows how many sources will feed the run. If it's low, go to Data & Evidence and add documents or connect a source first — assessment quality depends on evidence.
  3. (Optional) Send AI interviews. Use section 3 to collect conversational evidence from client stakeholders. See AI Interviews.
  4. Run the assessment. Click Run Assessment in section 4 and watch it stream through Generate → Review → Analyze → Report.
  5. Review findings. In section 5, review per-dimension answers, each with a confidence score and citations to the evidence behind it.
  6. Accept answers. Accept the answers you trust. Accepting unlocks downstream analysis.
  7. Send gaps to Plan. Push the resulting gaps forward to the Plan phase.

Best practices

  • Load evidence before running. A framework assessment is only as good as the evidence it can retrieve. Aim for solid document coverage and, where relevant, a connected database.
  • Use AI interviews for tacit knowledge. Some answers live in people's heads, not documents — interviews capture that as citable evidence.
  • Re-run as evidence grows. Runs are versioned; don't treat the first run as final.
  • Read the confidence and the citation, not just the answer. A high-confidence answer with a clear citation is defensible; check the source before accepting.

Common errors

SymptomLikely causeWhat to do
Assessment won't startThe selected framework isn't fully prepared for executionPick another framework, or contact your Celeredge admin — a framework must be compiled before it can run
Answers look generic / low evidenceLittle or no evidence was connected before the runAdd documents or connect a source in Data & Evidence, then re-run
Run appears stuckA long-running jobRefresh; runs stream progress. If it stays stuck, start a new versioned run
